My First Time Seeing The 1975 in Concert: An Unforgettable Night in Paris

Dear A-Blog-For-Thoughts,

It finally happened! After becoming a fan in December 2022, thanks to a TikTok video of Matty Healy singing "The Sound," I got to experience The 1975 live in concert at Zenith Paris this year. Let me take you through the magical journey of that night.

My love affair with The 1975 began in a rather modern way—through social media. I vividly remember scrolling through TikTok when I stumbled upon a video of Matty Healy energetically performing "The Sound." His stage presence, the catchy tune, and the overall vibe of the band captivated me instantly. From that moment, I dove headfirst into their music, exploring every album, every song, and eagerly anticipating the day I could see them live.

Fast forward to 2024, and I found myself in the mesmerizing City of Light, ready for the concert that was part of their "Still At Their Very Best" tour. Little did I know that this night would be one of the most unforgettable experiences of my life.

Once inside, the atmosphere was surreal. The stage setup was a visual masterpiece, designed to look like a house, adding a unique and intimate touch to the concert.  The stage was set like a cozy living room, and there was Matty Healy, asleep on a sofa. As his band members walked through the front door, the scene came to life. They opened with "The 1975," the first track from Being Funny In A Foreign Language. The energy was immediate and infectious.

I was dancing, singing along, and completely immersed in the music. However, in my excitement, I discovered a small but significant oversight later on: my phone’s microphone permissions were off, so none of the videos I took captured my enthusiastic sing-alongs. It’s a funny, slightly frustrating memory, but it’s a testament to just how engrossed I was in the moment.

One of the standout moments of the evening was when Matty Healy took a moment to share something deeply personal. Before performing “Paris,” he spoke candidly about celebrating five years of being clean from smack. His openness and vulnerability were met with heartfelt applause and cheers from the audience.

As the final notes rang out and the crowd erupted in cheers, I felt a profound sense of gratitude for being part of such an incredible experience.

As I walked out of the venue, my heart was full, and my mind was racing with the memories of the night. Seeing The 1975 live was everything I had hoped for and more. Their performance was a perfect blend of artistry, emotion, and connection.

This concert will forever be etched in my memory as a defining moment of my fandom. And even though my phone failed to capture my singing, the real highlight was being there, in that moment, with The 1975 and thousands of fellow fans, sharing an experience that was truly unforgettable.

Until next time, my lovlies

~Aby
