Unboxing : Owl Crate October 2018

And we're back with another Owl Crate Unboxing. Are you surprised? I'm sure you aren't.

October is here, and so that means cold weather and book cuddles. It also means lots of tea will be consumed by book lovers all around the globe (or coffee. Whatever floats your boat). Luckily for us, Owl Crate has got our backs and created the perfect box for Autumn/Fall for us. The October 2018 Owl Crate was themed Lost in the Bookstore. This box was slightly different from other boxes because most of the items weren't inspired by a book fandom.

Once again, before I start to talk about the exclusive items in this box I want to talk about the illustration on the spoiler card and on the pin. The creative is just so simply drawn but it is so beautiful. What I love the most in this photo is the magic teapot. Every bookworm deserves a magic teapot to pour our tea for us when we are reading.

Let's start with the items in the box.

First up we have a lovely choco-mint truffle tea. The name alone makes my mouth water. I have to admit that I have not tried this yet so I cannot give you my thoughts on it. It is made from The Tea Spot, and it comes in the cutest illustrated resealable pouch. They actually have an offer for 20% when you use the promo code OWLCRATE. It expires on 12/31/2018 so make sure you get yourself some yummy tea!

Owl Crate teamed up with Michelle Gray to bring us a tea strainer! The purple, heart-shaped strainer is made from 100% silicone. You have no idea how relieved I am to have a tea strainer in one of these boxes because Owl crate have previously included a tea in their box but I never used it because I had no tea strainer. Now I have a tea strainer, but the other tea might have expired so I can't exactly test it out now.

So we got the tea, and we got the tea strainer to help us make our tea. Next, we have SOCKS. Not only are they socks but they are long socks that come up halfway to your knees. Oh, how I love these kinds of socks, and they have such a cute pattern as well. These socks were made by Out of Print and Underlined, and they have done such a wonderful job with the design. First of all, they have chosen the best shade of blue for these socks, and the books are the perfect pattern for the Owl Crate theme for October. The best part is at the bottom of the foot you have the word NERD in big, blue letters.

When you eventually have to leave into the cold, Autumn air you can take your new clutch purse with you. Bookworm Boutique designed this beautiful purse for our books! It has a simple design but it is elegant and wonderful. I tested out the size of it with the two books that came in this box, and Pride fit quite snug but Shadow of the Fox didn't fit at all. I think that this purse should be used by just taking a bag with you but having the purse inside the bag as a book protector. Not much will fit in the purse once your book is inside it.

The next item is the only item inspired by a fandom, and it's the art print. This month's art print is inspired by the Mirror of Erised from Harry Potter. I think it accurately depicts what many Potterheads desire by showing a wand, a pile of books, and an owl.

That is all for the items because now we go on to the books. In this box, there are two hardback books.

The first book I am going to tell you about is the one I am most looking forward to reading.Pride, by Ibi Zoboi, is a retelling of Pride and Prejudice, with a few differences. Difference #1 : It takes place in the USA. Difference #2 : The main female character is not a caucasian woman but she is a woman with Afro-latino roots. I will come across the other differences as I read it! As per usual, this Owl Crate signed edition comes with an author letter, and this time it has come with a bookmark.

The other book, Shadow of the Fox, also comes signed, with an author letter, and a bookmark. Shadow of the Fox, written by Julie Kagawa, is completely different from Pride as the two books come from different genres! Both books have a slightly altered cover from the one that is sold at the bookstore. These changes can be found in the booklet, together with interviews with the authors.

Thank you all for reading this month's Owl Crate unboxing. There are a couple of others on my blog so go ahead and check them out.

Until next time lovelies,
Aby
