2017 Summer Reading List

It's that time of year again when Uni is out and I have enough free time on my hands to do some reading.

On a recent trip to London, I ended up buying eleven books ! Most of the books on this year's summer reading list have been picked up from Waterstones and WHSmith.

But the first book on my list is MY LADY JANE which I got in an Owl Crate last year. This book seems different from the other Young Adult books that I am used to reading so I am excited to read it.

Am I Normal Yet?

This book is one of the books that I was on a mission to find. It is the first book of the Spinster Club series by Holly Bourne, but it is the one that I haven't read yet. I have read the other two books in the series, and I love them. Recommend to anyone who is a Feminist.

And A Happy New Year?

This is like a Spinster Club Special so I had to get my hands on it ! I love Evie, Amber and Lottie so I needed a little extra of their presence in my life.

Girl heart Girl

I originally was attracted to the cover of this book when I saw it on Twitter a few months ago but I couldn't find it in my local book store. Waterstones literally has little sections dedicated to LGBTQ books and I might have squealed in delight.

Holding Up The Universe

Who doesn't love a Jennifer Niven book? I love her writing. All the Bright Places was such a masterpiece and I am happy to finally be able to have a copy of this book to see how her writing continues to amaze me.

If birds could fly

The first time I heard about this book was on Twitter as it was a giveaway prize. I didn't manage to win that giveaway so I decided to buy it when I saw it at Waterstones.  From the synopsis I feel like this book is going to be the perfect example of Love comes when you're not looking for it.

Summer Days and Summer Nights

Literally only bought this book because it is Edited by Stephanie Perkins.

Moxie

Thanks to Holly Bourne, I have found an interest in reading books where girls stand up for their rights. It has made me more aware of things that I didn't know where a societal construct in an attempt to make girls feel inferior. This is why I picked up Moxie. It is another book where a girl uses Feminism to stand up for her rights.

Letters to the lost

Just by reading the synopsis you know that this book is going to be full of romance and drama, and that I am going to laugh, cry and swoon.  This book is going to tear me apart. I know this and I can't wait to read it. The concept of the letters being written between them makes me giddy.  Basically, it seems like it's going to be a cocktail of emotions.

The One Memory of Flora Banks

I was intrigued by the synopsis of this book. Mainly because I feel like it's going to be a good romantic read, but also because of the fact that character has amnesia but still manages to remember a kiss.

History is all you left me.

Nicola Yoon said "Will make you cry, think, and then cry some more." and at that point I was sold. I love a book that can reduce me to tears. Also, this is another LGBTQ read that I have picked up.

Orbiting Jupiter

As a love of romance novels, I am always hesitant about getting a book that gives an impression of no lovey-dovey things. However, we must all take risks in life so I bought this book. It is a book about a father searching for his daughter with the help of his foster brother.

That is all for this year's Summer Reading List and I hope that I will be able to read all of them before September but life is so hectic with work ! If you have read any of these books then please let me know what you thought about them below (no spoilers please).

Until next time, lovelies.

  1. The first on my reading list was the book I won in your giveaway, but because I'm out in Asia and not at home my mum picked it up for herself! Ahah she is the slowest reader ever so I probably won't be picking it up until 2018
